Order of the Three Stars
On 3 May 2019, on the eve of the Day of the Restoration of Independence of the Republic of Latvia, the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis, and the Chapter of Orders decided to bestow the Order of the Three Stars, Fourth Class, and appoint the Head of the Latvian Decorative Arts and Design Department, Latvian National Museum of Art, art historian Inese Baranovska, Officer of the Order for successful work in her profession and outstanding service to the Republic of Latvia.
The Order of the Three Stars was established in 1924 in commemoration of the establishment of the independent Latvian state and reinstated in 1994. Its motto is Per aspera ad astra – through hardships to the stars. It is the highest award in the country.
