Me and Art I
The museum's art studio Me and Art invites children of preschool and primary school age to get to know works of art from different periods and to become better familiar with the language of art. During the activity works of art presented in the museum become an object of study and a theme for drawing assignments. Through looking, thinking and creating, it is possible to learn about the process of making art, different art forms, artists' personalities and history.
The aim of the activity is to delve into the specific theme, together discussing what we see, understanding and interpreting it. The programme helps children reinforce manual skills, master the language of art, develops the ability to observe and concentrate and group communication. Lead by museum pedagogue and artist Diāna Dimza-Dimme, children become familiar with different periods in art history and works of the most important Latvian artists as well as learn to understand colour, different drawing techniques and proportion.
Creative assignment is always a success, since the main thing is the process and the joy that comes from drawing!

- Tickets for the class stop being sold at the box office 15 minutes after the start of the class.

- It is recommended to arrive at the museum around 15-20 minutes before the beginning of the activity to allow time for the services of the ticket office and cloakroom.
- Meeting point at the Information Point (2nd floor lobby) before the lesson.
- This activity is accessible for people with reduced mobility. Practical information about the museum's accessibility can be found here.
- Drawing takes place on the floor or on cushions. We recommend to come in comfortable clothes and use another pair of shoes in bad weather conditions. During the lesson, we ask you to keep quiet and not disturb other participants. After the lesson, each participant is responsible for cleaning his workplace.
