Family Pack
For families with preschool age children the Latvian National Museum of Art offers a special Family Pack which will turn the visit to the museum into an exciting adventure. This activity provides an opportunity to get to know the museum's building and permanent exhibition by together studying, seeing, finding and discussing what is depicted in the works of art.
In the pack you will find games and tasks oriented towards development and tactile experience that are thematically linked to the works shown in the museum's permanent exhibition. By exploring the contents of the pack, children will gain their first impressions about the language of art as well as different art forms and will be encouraged to take a closer look at the details of the works. The young museum visitors will learn about texture by touching specially printed reproductions of paintings by Vilhelms Purvītis. They will be encouraged to observe and recognise human poses in the compositions by well-known Latvian artists as well as to put together the corresponding silhouettes in a puzzle. Learning about the diversity of materials used in sculpture will be encouraged by the task in which sculptures by Teodors Zaļkalns, Emīls Melderis and Ojārs Feldbergs have to be matched with the corresponding stone sample.
The games are appropriate for children from the age of two while for grown-ups the pack represents a great way of spending quality time with children in a creative and educational setting.
