Latvian Museums Association Annual Award 2016:
Volunteer of the Year
Latvian Museums Association has recognized LNMA volunteer Jausma Kalēja as the Volunteer of the Year 2016.
Established in 2009, the LNMA volunteering programme implements the idea of a socially inclusive museum, promoting collective responsibility and public participation. There are currently 38 volunteers working across all LNMA institutions - the Latvian National Museum of Art, Art Museum Riga Bourse, Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, Arsenāls Exhibition Hall and the Museum of Romans Suta and Aleksandra Belcova.
The volunteer work of Jausma Kalēja, who has been in the volunteer programme from 2012, was especially recognized in 2016, when alongside the title “Volunteer of the Year” Jausma was awarded her third LNMA Certificate of Recognition for her active involvement in the volunteering programme. In 2016, Jausma volunteered at the information centre, led guided tours and assisted the communication staff with publication monitoring and website translations.
