Museum presents the second video story in the series “From painting to painting. Pauļuks. Kažociņa. Celmiņa.”

Music and Art Support Fund, in collaboration with the Latvian National Museum of Art, invites everyone to get to know the works and exhibitions of Jānis Pauļuks, Māra Kažociņa, and Inta Celmiņa together with the actors of the New Riga Theatre – Kaspars Znotiņš, Regīna Razuma, and Gundars Āboliņš.

The second video story presented by the creative team of the project is a guide through the exhibition “The Spiral. Māra Kažociņa (1936–1992). Painting” with actress Regīna Razuma.

To the question 'Why did you become a painter?' In 1970, Māra answered the following: 'In the beginning, I wanted to become an architect, yet I enrolled in the Acadamy of Art. I guess each artist has a person who helps them find themselves. For me it was Edgars Iltners. He helped me develop my handwriting. Pushed me in the right direction. I want to think on the canvas. I paint slowly. Often, I remake the same work several times. No one work can repeat the previous. That is the joy of creation – to always change, to think more, to get more philosophical.'

The short films are available to everyone free of charge in Latvian with subtitles in English and Russian on the webpages of both involved parties and their social media channels (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram).

The project is supported by the State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF) special-purpose program “KultūrELPA”.
