The Art Museum Youth Club is a programme for teens (15+) who are interested in better acquainting themselves with museums, art, and design, and who feel the call to actively participate in the development of the Latvian National Museum of Art's offerings.
The museum-based programme was launched in 2017 with 20 participants. Since then, young people have explored the displays of the Latvian National Museum of Art and its structural units. Through interactions with the museum staff, such as collection managers, curators, researchers, and conservator-restorers, participants have learnt about the staff's daily routine as well as collection management, while also receiving the opportunity to participate in workshops organized by artists and designers.
The members of the Youth Club describe the Latvian National Museum of Art and its collections from their perspective, recommend suitable events, organize workshops, run tours, and prepare a very special guide for their peers.
