Museum is fully accessible to prams, wheelchair users and other visitors with reduced mobility.
There are two street level entrances: from the park side and on the right from the main entrance staircase (please use Call button for assistance to open the door).
One disabled parking space is available outside the Museum to the right from the main entrance facing the Art Academy of Latvia. Please inform yourself about other parking facilities near the museum here.
Visitors with prams, wheelchair users and other persons with reduced mobility are welcome to ask museum staff for a help with the use of cloakroom and lockers. (Between the cloakroom and the 1st floor are few steps)
Lifts enable access to all floors.
Accessible toilets are located on the 1st floor next to the restaurant and on the 4th floor.
Assistance dogs are most welcome at the Museum.
There are visitor benches in all of galleries, entrance halls and on the 3rd floor lobby.
Conference hall and 3rd floor lobby is equipped with audio induction loop system.
Children with a disability up to 18 years, 1st and 2nd group disabled persons (valid status identification card required) and one person accompanying either a child with a disability up to 18 years or a 1st or 2nd group disabled person and orphans or children not under parental care (valid status identification card required) has free admission at the Museum. Free admission tickets are available at the Visitor Information Centre on the 2nd floor or at the Ticket Office between the 1st and 2nd floors.
Visiting Museum with bicycle
Bicycle parking facilities are available at the left side of the main entrance and two places at the park side of the Museum.
Visiting Museum with baby
Baby changing facilities are available on the 1st floor toilets. You can freely walk around the expositions with baby prams and use lift if necessary. Prams can be also left on the 1st floor next to the entrance from the park. Visitors with baby prams are welcome to ask museum staff for a help to get to the Ticket Office between the 1st and 2nd floors.
Visitor Information Centre
The Visitor Information Centre on the 2nd floor is available for questions and printed information material. Other facilities available at the Visitor Information Centre are:
Mobile device with museum app and audio guide in Latvian, English and Russian languages for rent, free Family bag with games and activities for family visits with preschool age children, a game “Detective map” for children to explore the museum.
Unless announced otherwise, photography, for non-commercial private use, is permitted, but solely without the use of a flash and/or tripod, selfie-sticks, drones and other special equipment.
There is a free cloakroom and lockers on the 1st floor. You may be requested to leave briefcases, bags or umbrellas in the cloakroom. Large bags and rucksacks must be placed in the lockers.
Museum’s restaurant is located on the 1st floor. On warm season it has a terrace on the park side. It offers snacks, meals and drinks, as well the special menu for children. Baby highchair is available.
Museum’s mobile app is the easiest way to explore classic highlights, discover fresh perspectives on the permanent collection and discover the museum's unique architecture of the building. It includes augmented reality and audio guide in Latvian, English and Russian. You can download the app here: Google Play and App Store.
Last admission to the museum is 30 minutes before closing. Visitors will be asked to begin leaving the exhibition halls 15 minutes before the closing time.
It is forbidden to consume food and drink inside the exposition halls.
Museum has free admission to the permanent display on every last Sunday of the month.
